Background: A 'magnetic man', an anti-bank-robber smoke-screen, and a new strawberry growing system were just some of the entries at the World Fair for Inventions which ended in Brussels, Belgium on Sunday (December 9).

Inventors from thirty countries brought their ingenious devices to the fair which is an annual event. Industrialists keen on buying the inventors' patents were among the visitors at the week's display in the Rogier International Centre. They, above all, decide which entries will be in everyday use in the near future. The organisers set a higher entrance standard this year, so there were fewer inventions than usual. The Judges were representatives from the Red Cross, police, Rotary Club, press and the Belgian Touring Club.
