    HE SAID THE AIM OF CONFRONTATION WAS THE DISSOLUTION OF THE BRITISH - MADE FEDERATION OF MALAYSIA AND ASSISTANCE IN THE STRUGGLE OF THE PEOPLE OF THOSE TERRITORIES TO ATTAIN INDEPENDENCE OR SELF-DETERMINATION.

    CONTINUING, GENERAL SUHARTO CLAIMED THAT THE MALAYSIAN PRIME MINISTER, TUNKU ABDUL RAHMAN, HAD REJECTED ALL PROPOSALS SO INDONESIA WAS COMPELLED TO CONTINUE CONFRONTATION WHILE STILL REMAINED OPEN TO PEACEFUL SETTLEMENT.

    IN ANSWER TO A QUESTION, HE SAID INDONESIA HAD NO TERRITORIAL AMBITIONS NOR WAS IT HOSTILE TO THE PEOPLE OF MALAYA, SINGAPORE, SABAH AND SARAWAK.
