  • Description

The leader of a negro student organization promised, Oct 20, that student demonstrations against segregation will soon spread to all hard-core segregation centres in the Southern States of the U.S.A. The statement was made in Atlanta by Edward B. King, of the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee. It followed a day in which 22 more persons were jailed after sit-in demonstrations. Among those arrested was the Reverend A.D. Williams King, brother of the Reverend Martin Luther King -- who was jailed Wednesday.

Some 75 persons have been arrested in the two day demonstration. One of these was a 21 year old white man named Harold Eugene Sprayberry. He was charged with disorderly conduct and inciting a riot when he walked through the lunch counter area of a Woolworth variety store -- spraying insect repellant over the heads of negro demonstrators.
