Greek political prisoners - the subject of yet another protest march. Demonstrators paraded through Athens today (Tuesday) demanding the speedy release of all such detainees.
Waving placards with inscription such as "Give Me My Son" and "It's Enough for 20 Years", the demonstrators moved through the streets to Parliament House. There, after some arguing with police, a delegation was allowed in to see Mr. George Papandreou, the Greek Prime Minister.
However, it now looks as though today's could be one of the last protests. For the previous night, the Prime Minister announced legislation under which all detainees would be released on probation.
The measure would include Mr. Tony Ambatielos, the Greek Seamen's leader who is serving a life term for subversion after being convicted in 1947 for helping Greek Communist guerillas.
