  • Description

Dr Adenauer, the West German Chancellor, continued his brief visit to West Berlin July 12 by making a tour of the city he had not seen for eighteen months. On the agenda were the Broadcasting Tower, the Opera House, and a meeting with the Chief Burgomaster, Herr Willy Brandt, at the Academy of Art.

Later, the West German Chancellor attended a wreath-laying ceremony at the "20th July" memorial to the German officers who revolted against Adolf Hitler.

After a 1 1/2-hour discussion between Dr Adenauer and the West Berlin Senate that day, all the principles of West German policy on Berlin were reaffirmed. The Bonn and West Berlin City Governments intend to remain in close contact on all Berlin questions, a communique said.
