The biggest exhibition ever staged in Norway, the 1959 Agricultural Jubilee Show at Ekeberg, near Oslo, was opened by King Olav June 11. The King was greeted by Norwegians in their colourful national costumes.
Covering fifteen acres outdoors and another two and a half acres under cover, the show celebrates the 150th anniversary of the Royal Agricultural Society of Norway, and the centenary of the Norwegian College of Agriculture, and has bene organised by the Agricultural Society, the Norwegian Ministry of Agriculture, and economic and technical bodies connected with the nation's agriculture. It continues until July 5.
Over 300 firms - both Norwegian and foreign - are represented at the Show, which includes - besides agricultural exhibitions and demonstrations - a fun-fair, musical and folk-dancing performances. In the restaurants, traditional Norwegian mountain fare is offered to visitors.
