    The National Conference on Learning from Tachai held a plenary session in Peking on October 15.

    Attending the session were Chinese party and state leaders Yeh Chien-ying, Teng Hsiao-ping, Chang Chun-chiao, Chiang Ching, Yao Wen-Yuan, Li Hsien-nien, Chen Hsi-lien, Chi Teng-kuei, Hua Kuo-feng, Wang Tung-hsing, Wu Teh, Wei Kuo-ching, Chen Yung-kuei, Wu Kuei-hsien, Su Chen-hua, Saifudin, Tan Chen-lin, Ulanfu, Chou Chien-jen, Li Su-wan, Yao Lien-wei, Wang Chen, Yu Chiu-li, Ku Mu and Sun Chien.

    Among the over 7,000 people attending the session were members and alternate members of the C.P.C. Central Committee, leading members of departments concerned under the C.P.C. Central Committee, the government and the Chinese People's Liberation Army, leading members of various provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions, leading members of various prefectures, counties and state farms, representatives of agricultural, agricultural machinery and scientific and educational undertakings and institutions, financial and trade departments, educated young people settled in the countryside, the Taching Oilfield, departments concerned under the Chinese People's Liberation Army and departments concerned under the State Council, and delegates to the national conferences on finance and trade, foreign trade and other special subjects, which are being held in Peking.

    Vice-Premier Chen Yung-kuei of the State Council presided over the session.

    Hua Kuo-feng, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Vice-Premier of the State Council, made a summing-up report at the session entitled "get the whole party mobilized, go all out to develop agriculture and strive to build up Tachai-type counties everywhere."
