Background: A delegation from the Government of the Chinese People's Republic has arrived in Belgrade on an official visit, re-establishing Sino-Yugoslav diplomatic relations at ambassadorial level.

The delegation is headed by the new Chinese Ambassador to Yugoslavia, Mr. Tseng Tao. His arrival in Belgrade follows a Sino-Yugoslav decision of last November to normalise diplomatic relations which have been maintained at Charge d' Affairs level since 1958.

During their official visit to Yugoslavia the delegation from Peking spent three days in Slovenia and held a meeting with representatives of Slovenian economic organisations to discuss the improvement of economic relations between the two countries and foreign trade exchange.

The visit of the Chinese delegation is seen a reflection of China's desire to widen her field of action in foreign affairs and the re-establishment of relations is expected to stimulate bilateral economic relations.
