After paying a farewell visit to their son Francis, the previous day, Mr. and Mr. Oliver Power left Moscow, Aug 24, on board a Russian jet airliner. Their first stop was Copenhagen.
At Copenhagen airport, Mr. Oliver Powers told reporters that his wife, who suffers from heart trouble, was very weak after the ordeal of their son's trial. Later they flew on to New York.
Mrs. Barbara Powers, wife of the U-2 pilot who was sentenced to ten years' deprivation of liberty for spying, is staying in Moscow until Aug 27, in the hope that Soviet Premier Khrushchev will see her. She has sent a personal note to Mr. Khrushchev for an interview and is now drafting a plea for clemency to President Brezhnev.
