Militant negro leader H. Rep Brown, who was seriously injured in a gunfight with police?
Militant negro leader H. Rep Brown, who was seriously injured in a gunfight with police in New York on Saturday (October 16), advocates solving Negro problems with violence. At one meeting in Washington in 1967, for example, he coined the phrase "violence is as American as cherry pie", and suggested that black people should burn down their cities and towns if their demands were not met. Those demands, he said, included black city governments. This film, a re-issue from the VISNEWS film library, shows Brown calling for the sacking of Washington and Detroit at that 1967 meeting.
