  • Description

Fourteen nations, including some East European communist bloc countries, have provided patrol cars and crews to help West German authorities control the extra traffic generated by the Olympic Games in Munich. It's the first time Eastern bloc countries, like Yugoslavia, Poland, Hungary and Rumania, have participated in such a joint operation.

The international patrols, working eight-hour shifts, were coping with up to two hundred calls a day for assistance from motorists up to Monday (August 28). Other nations taking part in the operation include France, Holland, Great Britain, Belgium, Austria, Greece and the Scandinavian nations.
