TRANSCRIPT: "Great, I've been training for two months for this fight. I haven't fought since March but it's not unusual for me to go so long without fighting, because I train so long for the fight anyway. And for this one I've been training for two months nice and steady and I feel in 200 percent condition."

QUESTION: "What's your strategy going to be for this fight?"

ANSWER: "Well the same as it's always been for every other fight. You know, I don't have a sort of pre-fight plan or anything like that for any particular fighter. I just go out there to box and do my own thing and take each situation as I find it in the ring there and adapt."

QUESTION: "Do you feel pretty confident that you're going to win?"

ANSWER: "Oh yeah, I wouldn't be here."

    REPORTER: "Thank you very much."

Background: Britain's only (World Council) Boxing champion, John Conteh, felt confident after training for his light heavyweight fight against the United States' willie Taylor in Pennsylvania, he told reporters on Friday (8 August).

Conteh, who had not fought for two months, was preparing for the fight in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Although it is not a challenge to his light heavyweight title, it is a big-money match. There is fifty thousand U.S. dollars (3,750 sterling) of it.

The fight was to be the first Conteh had fought in the United States since knocking out Terry Daniels in 1973. The six-foot, 13-stone (182 1bs) fighter is Britain's newest sporting hero, and it's believed Conteh wants to become better known on the other side of Atlantic.
