Victory in the 1,300 mile (2,080 Kilometres) Kenyan flying Safari went on Sunday (26 September) to an air force "Beaver". The flying safari, a tough test to cross country navigation, was the sixth organised by the Aero Club of East Africa. Second place went to a young girl pilot, Miss P. Innocent in a Citabria.

The day was also marked by a display of the Kenyan air force strike master jets--this is covered in today's production No. 11255/71
SYNOPSIS: A display by Kenyan Air Force chipmunks was part of the air show at Wilson field near Nairobi last Sunday. The day marked the end of the sixth Flying Safari organised by the Aero Club of East Africa.

Two air force men won the 1,300 mile race, a tough test of cross country navigation. Second place went to a young woman, Miss Innocent in a Citabria.

Lieutenants Mwonga and Owaga won in this Beaver.

The airfield was full of spectators both on the Saturday, when the race began, and on Sunday. The contestants flew the first leg on Saturday, came back to Nairobi for the night and did the final stage on Sunday. Twenty seven aircraft took part in the race....this is the winner.

A handicap system was in force because of the differing sizes of the aircraft--but the professional flyers could not be beaten.
