    When President De Gaulle of France arrives in Mexico City Monday (16 March) he will find the capital city spruced up for his visit.

    Headquarters for the De Gaulle visit will be the swank Hotel Maria Isabel, on the busy Paseo de la Reforma, Mexico City's finest street. Outside the hotel, on the Reforma, is the Independence Monument, which will be decorated with a wreath by De Gaulle.

    Inside the hotel, workmen spent the week setting up facilities for the large numbers of newsmen who will be covering the French President's visit, which is widely regarded as a rehearsal for De Gaulle's month-long tour of Latin America this fall.

    The workmen installed elaborate press facilities, including extra phone and teletype circuits.

    Huge pictures are on display in the capital of De Gaulle and of President Mateos, of Mexico, his host.

    De Gaulle is expected to press band for Mateos' support for France's new effort to strengthen her political, cultural and economic ties with Latin America.
