Background: Visnews filmed, Thursday afternoon, Feb 12, Mr. Selwyn Lloyd, British Foreign Secretary, in conference with the Greek and Turkish Foreign Ministers, Mr. Averoff and Mr. Zorlu, at the London Foreign Office. They were discussing the latest 'Plan-for-cyprus' thrashed out and agreed at Zurich between the Greek and Turk Governments this week.
Later Mr. Selwyn Lloyd reported to Parliament on the talks and in the same evening resumed conversations with his Greek and Turkish visitors.
The Greek and Turkish Ministers arrived in London the previous evening, Feb 11, from Zurich. With them they brought their plan. At London Airport, Mr. Averoff said that Archbishop Makarios, exiled patriarch of Cyprus Greek Orthodox Church, had been informed of the plan.
If Britain, Greece and Turkey can reach agreement on Cyprus - system of government, protection of the Turk minority, the island's use as a strategic base and Britain's rights on an independent Cyprus - it's hoped that the three year wave of EOKA terrorism will end.
So far Cyprus hasn't shown any signs of extreme jubilation. The island is relatively quiet and the EOKA truce goes on, as do British security operations against the terrorists.
