  • Description

A barge loaded with over six hundred tons of deadly chlorine has been threatening the safety of a United States town for the past two weeks. But on Good Friday (March 31), city officials began evacuating over four thousand residents of the town, Louisville in Kentucky, which is on the edge of a dam where the barge was trapped under a parapet after breaking loose and in danger of losing its deadly cargo.

The liquid chlorine, stored in thanks on the barge, would release deadly gas if any of the tanks were to be ruptured. During the Easter weekend, when a salvage operation was to be performed, the danger was even greater--so the evacuation to temporary accommodation in suburban schools was ordered.
