Background: The Palestine Liberation Organisation Sunday (19 January) denied responsibility for the latest attack at Orly Airport in Paris ... the second in six days.
Gunmen, claiming to be pro-Palestinian took three people hostage at the airport on Sunday evening after an attack seemingly aimed at an Israeli airliner was thwarted by police.
A P.L.O. spokesman in Beirut said bis organisation had nothing to do with the "criminal act.".
the second attack at Orly is expected to cause sharp domestic embarrassment to the French Government which generally has pro-Arab policies.
The gunmen tossed hand grenades across the departure hall at Orly as an Israeli aircraft was taxiing for takeoff and then looked themselves in an airport toilet saying they had three hostages. Twenty people were injured in the attack, including a policeman who exchanged fire with the guerrillas.
The terrorists, claiming to be members of the "Mohammed Boudia Commandos", have demanded a Boeing 707 with full crew to take them to an Arab nation.
