About 70 km to the South from the Hungarian Capital, beside the Danube, in July 1950, began the building of Dunaujvaros on the place of a big maize field. Today already 40,000 inhabitants are living here in modern houses.
Dunaujvaros is the cultural and administrative centre of the region.
The first discharge took place in November 1952, then in July 1960, began to work the first hot rolling mill. One the entirely automatic rolling machines every two minutes a two-ton ingot is being rolled.
The Danube Ironworks was completed with the cold rolling mill in 1965. At its inauguration took part also Janos Kadar. Now all working processes may be done here, from the smelting to the ready product.
