  • Description

One of the world's greatest footballers, the man who was known throughout Europe as 'The Galloping Major', is a wistful man these days. Thirty-year Old Ferenc Puskas, self-exiled from his native Hungary is marking time in Vienna until FIFA, the international soccer control body, say he may play again in competitive football.

He has joined the Viennese club, Wiener SC, but until FIFA give the all-clear he can play only in friendly games. That doesn't stop him training, however, and these shots show that he has lost none of his superb skill. With him in soccer 'exile' are Gyula Szabo, Josef Kuzmann and Istvan Stancsik.

In his short, sound interview Puskas says his only wish at the moment is to gain permission to play again...and he sends his greetings to old rival, Billy Wright.

Certainly, there must be few who ever saw Hungary's great former captain in dazzling action, who would not wish him every success in his quest.
