Background: Visnews filmed Feb 2 the first German Naval visit to Italy since the war. Four minesweepers, the "Seehund", "Seepferd","Seestern" and "Seeschlange anchored in La Spezia harbour for a four-day visit. Other German ships joined the four minesweepers on Feb 3.

Manned by seven officers, 19 non-commissioned officers, 38 sailors and 24 officer cadets the minesweepers are on a training tour of several European harbours. On Feb 5 the ships go to the Italian port of Civitavecchia, 50 miles north of Rome.
