TRANSCRIPT: SEQ. 2: NUSEIBEH: "If just policies are pursued in the search for peace in the Middle East, based on natural justice, international law and the United Nations resolutions, then friendship, amity and not military force, can be restored as the most efficacious instrument for the conduct of relationships amongst nations. This is, Mr. President , the crux of what we discuss every year as the situation in the Middle East. Thank you, Mr. President".
SEQ. 4: ERALP: "Before I conclude, Mr. President, I would like o dwell, briefly, on the question of lebanon, which is another source of deep concern to my delegation. Events of recent years have caused great suffering in this country, and put in jeopardy its independence and territorial integrity. The situation in Lebanon is in itself, inexorably linked with the overall problem of the Middle East. Repeated attacks by Israel aggravate the situation all the more, and constitute another serious impediment in the way of bringing about peace in the area. We urge all parties involved to show upmost restraint and co-operation, so that the current efforts that are being made can succeed in achieving stability and tranquillity in that country based on the principle of respect for its sovereignty and territorial integrity. Also, paving the way for an overall peaceful solution of the Middle East pressure as a whole".
