Background: Millions of people are accustomed to the new modern buildings of Moscow. Yet only a few years ago this is how the site of the Lenin Sport Stadium looked like. The large sort city was built during three years. This is what the Frunzenskaya Naborezhnaya was like. Here, not far from this XVII century church was a drill-ground for the cavalry. Now the new Komsomolsky Avenue takes its start here. The Moscow Architectural Institute has done a great deal in the process of modernising the city. On the day of the 100th Anniversary of the Institute of Architecture was awarded the Order of the Labour Red Banner for their great services in teaching specialists and developing Soviet architecture. At a ceremonial meeting in the Kromlin Palace of Congresses Podgorny, the chairman of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, attached the Order to the banner of the Institute. The staff of one of the oldest institutes of the country plays an active part in the development of the new general plan of the reconstruction of Moscow.
