    Monsignor Joseph Ganda was consecrated the first Sierra Leone born Roman Catholic Bishop of Kenema on 21st February. The consecration ceremony was performed by Monsignor P. Francis Carroll, Archbishop of Monrovia.

    Kenema, Sierra Leone, is 230 miles (370 kilometres) from Freetown. The Prime Minister of Sierra Leone, Mr. Siaka Stevens, and mrs. Stevens travelled to Kenema to attend the historic ceremony. Also present were the Bishop of Victoria, British Columbia, Monsignor Remi Joseph de Roo.
