    MALAYSIA CELEBRATED ITS ARMED FORCES DAY IN KUALA LUMPUR ON FRIDAY AND FOR THE FIRST TIME A 15-MEMBER INDONESIAN MILITARY MISSIONS PARTICIPATED IN THE FESTIVITIES.

    THE CELEBRATIONS STARTED OFF WITH A WREATH-LAYING CEREMONY AT THE CENOTAPH IN THE LAKE GARDENS. HUNDREDS OF OFFICERS AND MEN OF THE THREE SERVICES OF THE MALAYSIAN ARMED FORCES, AS WELL AS THE INDONESIANS TOOK PART.

    THE FIRST WREATH WAS LAID BY THE CHIEF OF MALAYSIA'S ARMED FORCES, GENERAL TENGKU OSMAN BIN TENGKU MOHAMED JEWA.

    THE INDONESIANS WERE LED BY AIR VICE-MARSHAL LEO WATTIMENA. THEY ARRIVED IN THE MALAYSIAN CAPITAL ON THURSDAY.

    AN EXHIBITION OF WEAPONS AND EQUIPMENT ALSO MARKED THE CELEBRATIONS.

    IN THE EVENING, THE INDONESIANS JOINED 10,000 MALAYSIANS TO WATCH THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE CELEBRATIONS - A MASS TATTOO AT THE FREEDOM STADIUM.

    ABOUT 850 TROOPS AND POLICE TOOK PART IN THE THREE-HOUR SPECTACLE WHICH INCLUDED A BAND DISPLAY, A GYMNASTIC DISPLAY, MOTORCYCLE DISPLAY, BRIDGE DEMOLITION AND A TORCH MARCH RALLY.
