    On Sunday (18 July) President Nixon flew back to Washington from San Clemente in California where he had spent two weeks reviewing foreign policy at the Western White House. He was returning to the Capitol to prepare for a busy week of briefing diplomats and Congress on his decision to visit Peking sometime within the next few months. On Saturday (17 July) a large group of demonstrators had paraded outside the Western White House in protest at the forthcoming visit.

    SYNOPSIS: At San Clemente in California, President and Mrs. Nixon prepared to fly back to Washington on Sunday after the President had spent two weeks reviewing foreign policies. He was returning to the Capitol before beginning a busy schedule of briefings for diplomats on his forthcoming visit to Peking.

    It was while he was reviewing Foreign policies in San Clemente that news of the coming visit was announced. These demonstrators parades outside the Western. White House throughout the weekend in protest at the visit. They were active until President Nixon's return to Washington.
