Background: London -- and most of England -- continued to enjoy an unseasonal summer, Mar 17. Flowers abound in roof gardens and in the parks of the capital, city workers escape from offices at lunch-time to picnic beneath the blossom.
With the temperature in the 70's (70 degrees fahrenheit) sunbathers relaxed amid daffodils and hyacinths in Regent Park or took exercise in boats on the lake among the swans and ducks.
Trafalgar Square -- a popular rendezvous at all times of the year - was crowded with visitors there to feed pigeons or doze in the warm sunshine.
