The last contingent of the Cameroonian Regt. in Jordan, the 1st Battalion, left Akaba for Nombassa on November 3. King Hussein of Jordan and his Premier, Mr. Rifai, were there to see it off. The King thanked the officers and men for their assistance in the recent emergency and drank a toast to the British Army aboard one of the troop carriers.
Before they boarded the flotilla of vessels, including the cruiser Ceylon and the frigate Chichester, the Cameroonians paraded before the King, led by their bagpipe and drum band.
The remaining officers and men of the 16th. Independent Parachute Brigade also boarded troop-carriers at Akaba on the 3rd.. They are bound for Cyprus.
