TRANSCRIPT FOR SEQUENCE 3:
FOUAD NOSHAI: "The committee was formed to face barbaric invasion of Lebanon by the Israeli forces. And the standard Arab government we didn't believe was strong enough to stand against this. We thought we should organise the Egyptian people, and the Egyptian opposition and the Egyptian people in unions and universities against this invasion, to start some kind of a popular opposition to the Zionist and imperialist plan in the Middle East."

Background: The Socialist Labour Party (SLP) in Egypt, one of that country's opposition parties in parliament, has called on the Egyptian people to condemn what it calls, "the barbaric invasion of Lebanon by Israeli forces". The SLP and the Unionist Progressive Party both have condemned the invasion as part of an overall Zionist-imperialist plan for the Middle East. The SLP's leader, Ibrahim Shukry said there must be popular outrage at the Israeli action. He was backed up in his call for popular protest by the Vice President of the Unionist Progressive Party, Dr. Yahia El-Gamal, and Dr. Sayed El-Nashate, the spokesman for the Egyptian Nationalist Committee in Solidarity with the Palestinian and Lebanese Peoples.
