Background: The 13th century St. John's Cathedral of Den Bosch, is the scene every year of a blessing ceremony for cyclists and their machines.

It takes place after Holy Mass and heralds the start of the sporting season.

Cycling is perhaps the most popular sport in southern Holland.

At this ceremony were about 300 participants - amateurs and professionals - and the Bishop of Den Bosch, Mgr. Bekkers, officiated and pronounced and blessing.
