  • Description

Before Government House, Singapore, Aug 30, non-striking employees of the Singapore Glass Manufacturers Company demanded "the right to work", claiming that strikers prevented them getting to their jobs; police had not helped them, and they were now seeking aid from the Government.

Mr. Wee Toon Boon, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Labour sped to Government House and held a heated discussion with the demonstrators, who later dispersed.

At the strike-bound factory, pickets with red arm bands kept would-be visitors - including a VISNEWS camera at bay - while police looked on.
