  • Description

REPRESENTATIVES OF PERSIA, KUWAIT AND SAUDI ARABIA WILL MEET TOMORROW (MONDAY) IN COPENHAGEN, DENMARK, TO DETERMINE THEIR MUTUAL BOUNDARIES IN THE OIL-BEARING PERSIAN GULF. AMONG THE DELEGATES WHO ARRIVED TODAY WERE THE PERSIAN MINISTER WITHOUT PORTFOLIO, DR. NASSER YEGANEH, AND THE KUWAIT FOREIGN MINISTER, SHEIKH SABAH AL AHMED AL SABAH.

THE DELEGATIONS WILL SPEND SEVERAL DAYS IN COPENHAGEN. DR. YEGANEH SAID TODAY: "WE HOPE TO CONCLUDE AN AGREEMENT ON THE DELINIATION OF THE CONTINENTAL SHELF ITSELF. WE HAVE HAD DISCUSSIONS ON THIS FOR THE LAST EIGHT MONTHS". OIL WAS THE MAIN ISSUE IN THE TALKS, DR. YEGANEH SAID.

ALL THREE COUNTRIES HAVE MAJOR OIL DEPOSITS, AND THE DELINIATION OF THE SHELF AREA BETWEEN THE THREE COUNTRIES IS OF GREAT ECONOMIC IMPORTANCE BECAUSE OF UNDERWATER OIL DEPOSITS. THE TALKS WILL BE HELD IN SECRET, AND THE DELEGATES ALL REFUSE TO SAY WHERE OR FOR HOW LONG THEY'LL HE HELD.
