Background: In the Khmer Republic, government troops have strengthened their positions in a number of areas and retaken positions from Communist insurgents in the last few days according to the military High Command.
Troops from the crack First Division pushed their lines further north on Friday (December 7) in an attempt to link up with an armoured column on the edge of Moha Siang, the Khmer Rouge occupied town on Highway Four about forty miles (64 Kms) southwest of Phnom Penh.
The government troops mopped up Communist bunkers dug back form the river taking no chances: They used hand grenades and automatic weapons to clear the fortifications before moving in to look for the dead.
