Mario Soares entering his official residence at Sao Dento to begin talks with party leaders, Arrival of Communist secretary general Alvaro Cunhal at Premier's residence. Cunhal speaking to the press. He said: "The question of who is to be a minister has not yet been tabled. We trust that the government will not be right-wing, because such a Cabinet would arouse serious reservations from our Party, even if there were a platform which respected our essential views".
Cunhal added: "I think it is very difficult, not to say impossible, to reach an agreement by the end of the year".
