Background: EXPERTS FROM THE WEAPONS RESEARCH ESTABLISHMENT AT SALISBURY, SOUTH AUSTRALIA, WERE UNABLE TO IDENTIFY A TWELVE POUNDS METAL SPHERE WHICH HAS ONE VISIBLE MARKING - THAT OF A SICKLE.

THE SPHERE, WHICH SEEMS TO BE HOLLOW, GIVES A METALLIC RING WHEN TAPPED.THE MYSTERIOUS OBJECT WAS FOUND IN DESOLATE COUNTRY NEAR A SHEEP STATION ABOUT 180 MILES NORTH OF BROKEN HILL ON APRIL 9.

METALLURGISTS CANNOT SAY WHAT METAL THE SPHERE IS MADE OF, BUT IT IS HARD ENOUGH TO RESIST FILES AND HACKSAWS.THEY FOUND NO TRACE OF RADIOACTIVITY IN A GEIGER COUNTER TEST.
