  • Description

President Ahmad Hassan Bakr of Iraq detailed the advances made in his country since the 1968 revolution on the sixth anniversary last Wednesday (July 17). Speaking on a nationwide radio and television address the President said the July 17th Revolution came to wipe out the feeling of hopelessness and despair that overwhelmed the Arab masses in the wake of the 1967 Middle East war.

Later President Bakr held a banquet at the Presidential Palace. Visiting dignitaries and members of foreign legations were invited. In a brief speech the President continued along the same lines as his nationwide address. He told the guests that great advances had been made in various economic, social industrial and educational projects. He said the close harmony within the Revolutionary Government had made these advances possible.
