    Italian space technicians were yesterday (Friday) going through their final checks for today's successful launch of the third satellite in an Italian-United States joint programme. The 360-pound (164-kg.) satellite, called San Marco-C, was launched at 0735 GMT today form a platform in the Indian Ocean off the Kenya coast at Formosa Bay, near Malindi.

    The satellite was carried into equatorial orbit by a United States Scout rocket, and will be used to study the density and temperature of the upper atmosphere.
