Background: Eleven couples from several countries were married in a multiple wedding ceremony on Saturday (29 May) in Ljublana, the capital of the Yugoslav Republic of Slovenia. This is the tenth time the "Country Wedding" ceremony has taken place.
The couples were from several Yugoslav Republics, as well from Sweden, Italy, Belgium, West Germany, Norway, Tunisia, Switzerland, and Czechoslovakia. The wedding couples and their guests were all dressed in the traditional costumes of their regions.
The celebration took place most of last week, but the main attraction was the procession and multiple ceremony on Saturday. A large crowd witnessed the ceremony, attesting to the fact that this event has become a very popular tourist and folklore attraction in Europe.
