Background: The Ivory Coast's National Education Week was opened on Friday (September 4) at the National Arts Institute in Abidjan. National Education Week is operating under the auspices of UNESCO.
Present at the opening ceremonies were the Ivorian Minister of National Education, Mr. Jean L. Guede, and the Minister of popular Education and Sport, Mr. Etienne Ahin.
The Ministers were greeted by the Secretary-General of the National Institute of Arts, who is acting as President of the Week's activities, Mr. Michel kangha.
During his opening speech, Mr. Kangha praised the Ministers for their devotion to the cause of national education in the Ivory Coast.
Mr. Kangha also praised the work of UNESCO, and particularly of the organisation's representative in Abidjan, for the help he had given the Ivory Coast in the field of education.
In his answering speech, Mr. Guede thanked the organisers of National Education Week and expressed his wishes for the continuing success of their activities.
National Education Week will finish on September 14th.
