Background: Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor went on safari on Wednesday (8 October) in South Africa's Kruger National Game Park.

The famous screen couple are visiting South Africa as part of their "trial reconciliation honeymoon".

They flew over the 8,000 square mile conservation park in an open helicopter especially built for game spotting, and visited the park's "creche" for orphaned and sick animals.

There, Elizabeth Taylor formed a firm friendship with Taga, a fully grown cheetah, hand raised but living wild. The animal followed Miss Taylor around for two days.

Richard Burton kept his affections for a baby giraffe .. a mere seven foot tall .. and even pressed his ex-wife into feeding the animal with a milk bottle.
