Background: We have film of three different kinds of Australian produce...first in Western Australia..They were mustered on a property near Geraldton.Five-thousand wethers from forty producers in the Northampton and Geraldton districts had been bought for export to Kuwait in the Persian gulf. The sheep were all brought in to "Deepdale" property to be moved in one big flock to the Geraldton wharf.
Before many Geraldton residents were up for breakfast, the sheep were moving through the township.Twelve drovers on foot, two on horseback and several dogs had the task of getting the sheep to the wharf with as little upset to the town as possible.Occasionally, they had some unofficial held from youngsters.
The droving was completed in about two hours. The five thousand sheep, with another one-thousand road trucked to the wharf, make up the biggest shipment ever from Geraldton. It was worth about 18-thousand pounds.
Officials of the exporting agents watch the final phase of the operation. It took eight hours.
