    ARTISTS FROM FOUR SOUTH AMERICAN COUNTRIES ARE HAVING SOME OF THEIR SCULPTURES AND PAINTING EXHIBITED AT THE SIGNALS GALLERY IN LONDON.OF THE FORTY THREE ARTISTS IN THE EXHIBITION, 14 ARE FROM BRAZIL, VENEZUELA, PERU AND MEXICO.

    ALL THE WORKS IN THE EXHIBITION ARE MODERNISTIC.THEY ARE KNOWN AS EITHER KINETIC, OPTICAL OR ELEMENTAL ART.

    SOME OF THE SOUTH AMERICAN HAVE LIVED IN EUROPE FOR SOME TIME.CRUZ-DIEZ HAS LIVED IN THE FRENCH CAPITAL, PARIS, SINCE 1960.BUT MOST OF THEM HAVE PREVIOUSLY HAD EXHIBITIONS OVERSEAS.SOTO HAS ONE OF HIS MURALS, A WORK 27 FEET (9 METRES) LONG, AT THE STEDELIJK MUSEUM IN AMSTERDAM.IT HAS BEEN LOANED FOR THE SIGNALS GALLERY EXHIBITION, AND CONSISTS OF A VIBRATING WALL.

    THE DIRECTOR OF THE GALLERY, PAUL KEELER, HAS DESCRIBED SOUTH AMERICA'S CONTRIBUTION TO MODERN ART AS 'DYNAMIC', BECAUSE, HE SAYS, HER ARTISTS HAVE AVOIDED BEING INFLUENCED BY AMERICAN ART.
