ONE OF THE "CASUALTIES" OF ELECTIONEERING IS MRS. INDIRA GANDHI, THE PRIME MINISTER, CAME OUT OF A NURSING HOME YESTERDAY (SUNDAY) AFTER AN OPERATION ON HER NOSE INJURED WHEN HIT BY A STONE DURING AN ELECTION MEETING.

    MRS. GANDHI HAD HER NOSE BONE SLIGHTLY DISPLACED DURING A MEETING NEAR BHUBANESWAR, IN ORISSA STATE, LAST WEDNESDAY. THE INCIDENT WAS THE CLIMAX OF A SERIES OF DISORDERS AT POLITICAL MEETING DURING THE CAMPAIGN FOR INDIA'S FOURTH GENERAL ELECTION, IN WHICH POLLING STARTS ON WEDNESDAY. THE SIZE OF THE CONGRESS PARTY'S NEW MAJORITY IS EXPECTED TO DECIDE WHETHER MRS. GANDHI WILL BE RETAINED AS PRIME MINISTER.
