    DELEGATES FROM 39 COUNTRIES YESTERDAY (SATURDAY) HELD A SIX-HOUR SESSION OF TALKS - THE FIRST FULL MEETING OF THE ORGANISATION OF AFRICAN UNITY (OAU) FIFTH SUMMIT CONFERENCE AT THE SEASIDE RESORT OF CLUB DES PINS, NEAR ALGIERS.

    THE DELEGATES DECIDED TO KEEP SECRET THE DETAILS OF THE 10-POINT AGENDA WHICH THEY ADOPTED, BUT IT IS KNOWN THAT MATTERS YET TO BE DISCUSSED INCLUDE ETHIOPIAN EMPEROR HAILE SELASSIE'S REPORT ON THE EFFORTS TO RESTORE PEACE IN NIGERIA EXTENDED BY A SIX-MEMBER OAU CONSULTATIVE COMMITTEE.

    A SPOKESMAN SAID YESTERDAY THAT ONE RESOLUTION DEALING WITH THE ARAB-ISRAELI WAR WOULD NEED FURTHER DISCUSSION. THE DELEGATES - 22 OF WHOM ARE HEADS OF STATE - WERE GOING TO TRY TO WORK OUT A TEXT ACCEPTABLE TO THE ARAB COUNTRIES AND TO THOSE AFRICAN STATES LINKED CLOSELY TO ISRAEL.

    YESTERDAY AFTERNOON, THE CONFERENCE DEALT WITH BUDGET MATTERS AND MEMBER CONTRIBUTIONS AND ALSO HEARD A REPORT FROM SECRETARY-GENERAL DIALLO TELLI, OF GUINEA.

    PRESIDENT KENNETH KAUNDA OF ZAMBIA, WHO ON FRIDAY REFUSED A VICE-PRESIDENCY OF THE ORGANISATION, LEAVES TODAY FOR PARIS, WHERE HE IS EXPECTED TO MEET PRESIDENT DE GAULLE. UNITED NATIONS SECRETARY-GENERAL U THANT, WHO ADDRESSED THE OPENING SESSION OF THE CONFERENCE, IS ALSO DUE TO FLY TO PARIS TODAY.
