The Junior Foreign Minister of Tanzania, Mr. Isaac Sepetu, told the United Nations in New?
The Junior Foreign Minister of Tanzania, Mr. Isaac Sepetu, told the United Nations in New York on Friday (26 September) that failed -- and that his government will now support the resumption of the armed struggle against the Smith regime.
Mr. Sepetu told the delegates that in spite of international condemnation and opposition, the white minority Salisbury Government continued in power.
Mr. Sepetu said that the leaders of the African National Council on Rhodesia has explored every peaceful way of gaining majority rule for Rhodesia.
He blamed the Smith regime for scuttling the latest round of talks -- at Victoria Falls last month. An allegation made before, and strongly denied, by Rhodesian Prime Minister Mr. Ian Smith.
Mr. Sepetu said that because Mr. Smith has frustrated, and would continue to frustrate all efforts for a peaceful solution, the Tanzania Government has no option but to support the liberation of the country by force of arms.
He appealed to the United Nations to tighten the sanction controls and take other measures to "liquidate" the regime.
