    The Soviet Foreign Minister, Andrei Gromyko, arrived in New York on Tuesday (October 13th) to attend the 25th Anniversary meeting of the United Nations General Assembly.

    His private jet aircraft arrived at Kennedy Airport 45 minutes late, to be greeted by the Soviet Ambassador to Washington, Anatoly Dobrynin; the Soviet Ambassador to the United Nations, Mr. Jacobmalik; the United Nations Under Secretary-General Leonid Kutakov; and Mrs Ludmila Gvishiani, daughter of the Soviet Prime Minister Alexei Kosygin.

    In a statement, Mr. Gromyko said Russia would do its best to contribute to the success of the anniversary meeting. But he warned that all Russia would not allow anyone to encroach on the interests of its security or the security of its allies and friends.

    He added that the Soviet policy was one of peace, and that all Soviet proposals were aimed at achieving implementation of the principles of the United Nations.
