Egyptian Foreign Minister Mourad Ghaleb arrived in Pairs today (Tuesday) with the mission of strengthening his country's ties in Europe. The visit is regarded as important in Cairo because of the ???ent steady improvement in Franco-Egyptian relations and because of France's continued ban on are supplies to Israel.
During his two-day visit, Mr. Ghaleb will be having talks with the French Foreign Minister Maurice Schumann, and with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, M. Jean de Lipkowski.
SYNOPSIS: The steady improvement in Franco Egyptian relations was expected to continue this week when Egyptian Foreign Minister Mourad Ghaleb arrived in Paris at the start of a two-day visit. President Sadat of Egypt has said only recently that he is keen to strengthen ties with Europe. France is regarded with particular favour because of the continued French ban on arms supplies to Israel.
After a brief airport reception on Tuesday, Mr. Ghaleb and his wife drove off for the first stage of a busy schedule. The Egyptian Minister will be holding talks with his French counterpart, M. Maurice Schumann, and other top officials. Mr. Ghaleb said he was carrying a personal message from the Egyptian head of state to President Pompidou of France.
