ZAYED: "We consider that the latest programme given by king Hussein is part of the liquidatory plans of imperialism in the area. We refuse this not only by saying that, but we will fight it by revolutionary violence because our aim -- as Palestinian revolutionaries -- is to liberate Palestine, and regain for our masses their rights in Palestine, and not to create a puppet state which is exploited and dependent on the Israelis and the reactionaries."

Background: In Lebanon, a spokesmen for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PELP) rejected on Wednesday (March 15) King Hussein's proposal for the unification of the East and West Banks of the Jordan River under a federal system.

In a statement given to VISNEWS in Beirut, PELP spokesman Bassam Zayed said the Jordanian King's plan is part of an imperialistic attempt to liquidate the Palestinian case.

The controversial proposal would unite the Israeli-occupied West Banks of the Jordan River with King Hussein's East Bank under the title of the United Arab Kingdom.
