THE 1107-FOOT HIGH CENTRE -- BIG JOHN TO THE PEOPLE OF CHICAGO -- IS THE SECOND LARGEST BUILDING IN THE WORLD, TOPPED ONLY BY NEW YORK'S 102-STOREY EMPIRE STATE BUILDING.

    THE TWIN TELEVISION TOWERS BROUGHT BIG JOHN'S HEIGHT TO 1465 FEET, ONLY 16 FEET BELOW THE TRANSMITTING ANTENNAE ON THE EMPIRE STATE BUILDING. THE 349-FOOT TOWERS, WEIGHING 56 TONS EACH, WILL BE USED BY FIVE CHICAGO TELEVISION STATIONS.

    ABOUT 4,000 OFFICE WORKERS AND 2,000 RESIDENTS FOR BIG JOHN'S 705 FLATS RECENTLY MOVED INTO THE BUILDING. FOR RENTS OF BETWEEN GBP75 AND GBP313 A MONTH, THE FLAT DWELLERS HAVE MAGNIFICENT VIEWS FROM FLOORS 45 TO 92.

    ON THE 44TH FLOOR THERE IS A SPECIAL SECURITY SERVICE TO SCREEN OUT UNWANTED VISITORS. ALSO ON FLOOR 44 -- SHOPS, RESTAURANTS, A SWIMMING POOL AND A HEALTH CLUB. THE FIRST FIVE STOREYS ARE SHOPS AND OFFICES, THEN SIX FLOORS OF GARAGE SPACE FOR 1200 CARS, AND MORE OFFICES UNTIL THE RESIDENTIAL SECTION BEGINS.
