    Background: Submarine S-4 wrecked in collision - salvaged: The US submarine S-4 was destroyed in collision with U.S Coast guard destroyer "Paulding" on 17th December 1927.
    All the crew were drowned. Salvage operartions took place - January - March 1928 and the submarine was in dry dock at Boston on March 19, 1928.
