Background: Britain's Prime Minister Edward Health took the helm on Saturday (June 27) in the annual 60-mile race around the Isle of Wight. In his 34-foot sloop "Morning Cloud", Mr. Heath started as one of the favourites when the 500 yachts set out from Cowes in the morning.
With a ten knot south-easterly blowing, conditions were perfect for the race. Mr. Heath's yacht -- number 2468 -- was fifth over the finishing line, and he is expected to come second in his class when the handicaps are worked out.
Last year, Mr. Heath finished second in his class and 28th overall, and in December he added a win in the Sydney-Hobart ocean racing classic to his sailing achievements.
